WealdenWealden Citizens Advice Bureau

Wealden Citizens Advice is a problem solving organisation set up to help people who live and work in the Wealden area of East Sussex.  We have bureaux in Crowborough, Hailsham and Uckfield and outreaches in Heathfield, Wadhurst, Polegate and Willingdon.

Wealden Citizens Advice came into being on the 1st April 2005, when a Board of Trustees, a Chief Executive and three Service Managers were appointed. Across the district we have 74 advisers and in 2004/05 we advised clients on 13,000 occasions and dealt with more than 19,000 problems - our advisers are highly experienced and we know what we’re talking about.

In addition to our generalist advisers we have an employment specialist and an advocacy service filling out forms by appointment either at a bureau or at the client’s home. Occasionally, where appropriate, clients may benefit from seeing a solicitor, free of charge, at the bureau for a one off interview.  Our help desk at Lewes County Court offers advice and support to people in receipt of a possession summons and our specialist money advice team help individuals to find their way out of debt related problems and budget more effectively.

Furthermore, we have been successful in achieving joint funding from Wealden District Council and East Sussex County Council to provide money and debt advice to Housing Association tenants in the Wealden area who could lose their accommodation if unable to pay their rent through debt problems.

Our advice is Confidential, Impartial, and Independent and two thirds of our clients say that it helped to resolve their problem.
